Teach a man to fish . . .

and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime. (Lao Tzu)

In Seattle, we can teach a man how to prepare fish and feed him for a lifetime. Next week when you walk to watch the (struggling) Mariners at Safeco Field, you'll pass some of Seattle's homeless. If you're like me, you'll feel bad for them, but you'll know that the spare change they're begging will do them no good.

Here's a way to give something that will do something. Take a few moments to watch the following video. You might be surprised that the fish dinner you order at some of Seattle's finer restaurants was cooked by someone who might otherwise have had his hand out on the street. We need to support programs like this!

Resources: Qwest Field

The Seahawks were pummelled today in Pittsburgh. But next week they're back at Qwest Field, a twenty-minute walk from the ferry terminal and the loudest NFL stadium in the country. More noise-related penalties have been called on visiting teams here than anywhere else. Click More for a one-minute history.
